Live Oak is the most
prominent of the charming towns that dot the landscape of north
central Florida, a region often described as "The Original Florida."
This was the first tourist destination, and it will break your
stereotypes of Florida atmosphere. There are no crowds and no palm
trees. It's a "come as you are" kind of place, where you'll find
people who are very down-home and very sophisticated all at once. Live
Oak is the seat of Suwannee County, situated just off I-10 at the
junction of US 90 and 129, a few miles west of I-75.
People go for the outdoor life in a big way in the Suwannee River
Valley. Freshwater springs, lakes and 5 rivers make the valley a water
sports playground. A few minutes in any direction will bring you to a
stream that invites you to drop in your canoe for a relaxing ride.

Fishing is a prime pastime here. The
rivers here are filled with bass, panfish and even sturgeon.
